Hole in machining processing is a larger proportion of the important processing. These holes are characterized by: small size, large quantities, for the time-consuming, high-precision machining, complex shape, processing and difficult. Although at present has developed some 50 kinds of small deep hole of the processing methods, the most commonly used method of processing small holes are: machining, EDM, ECM, ultrasonic processing, e-beam laser processing and processing. As hardness, high melting point of the use of more and more, the traditional processing methods can not meet certain technical requirements. Therefore, laser drilling adapt to the needs of the times has become a kind of technology.Laser drilling basic principle was studied systematically according to the interaction mechanism between laser and drilled substance in this paper. Problem of Unstable status, nonlinear process and phase transition in drilling bores with laser on carbon steel was solved by using method of finite element analysis. Hear source model and temperature grades model were also set with the software of ANSYS for carbon steel to induce the distribution of temperature style.Three kinds of carbon steels (stainless steel, 50# and T8) with different quantity of carbon contents were used in the drilling test and the result got by comparing analogue values and experimental data offer practical gist for laser drilling bores on carbon steel. That kind of drilling techincs was also studied, the infection of impulse energy, impulse quantity, impulse frequency and focus distance for this kind of laser drilling on different carbon steels was analyzed. By analyzing the in-coming reasons of recast layers in carbon steels, nexus between thickness of recast layer and laser frequency, and between bore smoothness and carbon contents was elicited, too.
