Harbin Regional Feature And City Landscape Style

Harbin is a modern northern city in our country.With the emerging of the Middle East Railway here in 1898,Harbin has rapidly been developing from a primary fishing village into a metropolitan being famous at home and abroad.Large quantity of European colonists and mid-China immigrants inhabited here,bearing with their East and West original cultures.Here, various originated cultures conflicted each other and got congruent,forming a unique Harbin cultural style and an alien city landscape.Various schools of extraordinary architectures can be easily found:Russian Oriental religion style;European Classical one;Eclectic one;Neo-art ones,including Japanese modern architecture and the architectures finished within 1950's,the first national plan.A city,entitled with "Oriental Parish" or "Oriental Moscow",was generated from this profound soil colored with those alien tastes.In the last decades,along with the accelerating pace of our economy;the advance of science and technology;the promotion of transportation;the popularity of informationization, the city construction of Harbin is in extraordinary speed.While in the enjoyment of the achievements,an prevailing of incongruent landscape architectures boomed in Harbin as what occurred in the other cities of China,twisting Harbin's particular bright feature.Following a blind current of city construction,it has been neglected on the relationship between landscape changing and Harbin traditional culture heritage development and the inheritance.Now,people are facing challenge,when they are in conscious of the problem,as it is incomparable neither on the scale nor on the function of its architecture,lawns,landscape elements,public facilities between the modern Harbin city landscape and that of the traditional one.The traditional measures cannot meet the needs of a modern city development.It has been a prominent problem on the agenda about how to congruent Harbin modern city landscape architecture with the protection and the heritage on the traditional city features of "Oriental Parish" and "Oriental Moscow".Based on an cite investigation on the problems caused by Harbin landscape design and construction,in this paper an analysis has been done emphasizing Harbin geography structure, city cultural characters,the process of city development and the traditional landscape features. An summary is acquired about what Harbin landscape features are and the reason embedded, suggesting that the problems to compromise modern landscape architecture design with the city landscape quality,can only be solved with a designing view of regional orientation.It has been acquired about the basic principles about Harbin city landscape designing and the measures about the detail landscapes elements,putting forward here for reference to city landscape workers' design in the days to come. The paper consists of eight chapters:Chapter One:A general introduction is given on the current problems and situation, prevailing in city landscape design and construction throughout China,aiming at exploring the congruence of Harbin city landscape and city characters,and setting up the researching methodology and practical operation hypothesis.Chapter Two:The defining of relevant concepts,commenting about the influence of regional elements on the city landscapes.Chapter Three:Theoretical base.Based on the theory of cite - culture heritage,the theory of city image and the theory of criticizing regionalizing,this paper is aiming at analyzing and exploring researching necessity of the city landscape regional orientation.The main view and deficiency on the city landscape regionalizing by the theories above have been cited in detail, studying and suggesting how to acquire an congruence between city landscape features and cultural inheritance.Chapter Four:Harbin natural geography environment has been studied.Along with times, the process of development and the formation of Harbin landscape features were emphasized, and the city cultural heritage has been systemized.Finally,the feature of the city of Harbin realized.Chapter Five:An analysis has been done on the problems and reasons existing in Harbin city landscape features.Chapter Six:A set of scientific corresponding designing principles are suggested based on a regionalizing design theory in avoidance of current Harbin landscape design problems.Chapter Seven:A sequence of detail regionalizing designing measures are proposed, according to the features of Harbin city landscape elements.Conclusion:With a practical research on Harbin landscape features,the scientism and practicability of the thought on regionalizing city landscape design has been summarized.
