Research On Ecological Landscape Planning And Design Of Urban Waterfront

The development and improvement of urban waterfront are becoming the focuses and hots of many cities during the process of China's large-scale urbanization. Since it has only taken less one hundred years for all over the world to develop waterfront from the last century 20,as well as more than 20 years for China from 1990,the related practices and theoretical research are in the exploration. The growing bad environmental situation makes the human take more attention to the ecology and environmental protection. Even the international academic community are arguing on"ecology-first"or 'sight-first"during the landscape planning and design. Ecological landscape planning has been widely echoed in the planning and design fields and today the Advanced Research Center of design in Harvard University Graduate School has been set up specifically the ecological landscape planning in this direction, so that landscape ecology and planning and design really melting into one. The ecological research about landscape planning and design has great significance whether from a theoretical point of view or from the practice of waterfront space planning and design, because the urban waterfront is a special water and land ecotone, with the sensitive ecological nature and the complicated relationship with the city.The eco-consciousness has already been existed in the theoretical research about development of waterfront at home and abroad., though mostly studied from local point ,lack of systemic. So, the thesis put the waterfront ecology into natural ecology and context (the humanities and social) ecology and economic ecology , systematically researching from the three aspects, guiding by "Eco-priority" ideology.Firstly, in order to report the today's research in this area, the article investigated the development and remediation process of urban waterfront and related theoretical studies at home and abroad. Secondly, the author studied the ecological features and ecological function of urban waterfront .On this base, guiding by ecological landscape planning theory, combining with the project (the Landscape planning and design of southern area of Changsha Yianjiang Road )which the author was personally involved the thesis proposed the principles and methods of ecological planning and design of city waterside ,which are the focus of this paper in detail. Thirdly, based on the principle of linking theory with practice, the thesis gave some advises about some elements about ecological design of city waterfront, such as revetment, plants, etc, from the microscopic point of view. Finally, the article proposed a solution on how to improve awareness of ecological planning and design.
