The Study Of Urban Waterfront Planning Based On Landscape Levels And Landscape Ecology

Urban waterfront is the preferred area of city location and the key area of city development. Meanwhile, urban waterfront often seizes excellent ecological and visual potentials. It plays a pivotal role in enriching the urban landscape, improving the quality of the urban environment, protecting the regional ecology and so on. The development of urban waterfront in China did not experience the kind of course from recession to recovery like Europe and the United States. The major problem is solving the transformation of urban waterfront functions. The unreasonable urban waterfront functions which is caused by kinds of historical problems including inappropriate land use, imbalance landscape ecological elements, weakening landscape ecological functions, degradation of waterfront environment, etc. With the development of the society and economy, the study of urban waterfront planning based on landscape levels and landscape ecology becomes a common concern and should be urgently resolved.The study begins with giving the summary of the relevant theory of landscape levels and landscape ecology. Then the methodology analysis of urban waterfront planning based on landscape levels and landscape ecology is drawn including the analysis of landscape visibility, diversity, dominance and ecological pattern, patch, corridor, matrix, strategic points. Combing the analysis above, the principles, contents and measures of urban waterfront planning based on landscape levels and landscape ecology is given.Finally, based on the topographic maps, land use maps and field surveys, the landscape levels and landscape ecology evaluation of waterfront in Xiangtan is taking with the theories and method of landscape ecology, spirit of space, visual order and urban planning. After that, the planning of Xiangjiang River waterfront in Xiangtan, Hunan Province with the suggestion and controlling strategy of construction is accomplished. The research results will be helpful for landscape protection and development, and will play a positive role for high-efficient, harmonious and sustainable development of urban waterfront.
