X-ray streak camera is a diagnostic equipment with high sensitivity and high spatial-temporal resolution. It is used to study ultra-fast phenomena in many fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, especially in ICF. The problem to achieve the higher spatial-temporal resolution, more region of spectrum responsibility and dynamic range, calibration of streak nonlinear data, spatial-temporal aberration of image are still coherent with streak camera. While the process of the electron optical system was concerned most by camera user.In this paper, the principle of the camera operation is analyzed, the configuration variety of different generational camera is introduced, and the numerical simulation of the camera inner working course and experiment validation are carried, too. This dissertation has tried to expound the working course of electron optical system, use the numerical simulation to find the way that the system acts on the electrons, analyze the possible influencing factors which affect the camera imaging, and validate the accuracy and precision of the simulation by experiment.Numerical simulation of the GSM-03 ICT was made by simulation software ANSYS, containing two working conditions: static and dynamic. The design parameter was altered to find the imaging law of this model, and the influencing factors on imaging. The specific imaging characteristics of the ICT model was calculated, which contain the distance between image and object, image magnification, deflection sensitivity, and so on. Numerical result showed that the voltage was important in imaging and its influence was significant, while the size and shape of electrode have a slight influence to the imaging. The distance between every electrode also has significant influence.The critical work of experiment part contains constructing a simple streak camera system, with ICT which has an alterative cathode, high power supply, potentiometer,vacuum system and so on. The characteristics testing are carried upon this test-bed, which contain image magnification, deflection sensitivity, and the spatial resolution. With the limited condition, the experiment only performed static testing. The test results showed the system reliable, however, the precision of the system could be improved more.The analysis between experimental results and simulation data show their consistency in certain extent. The differences consist in image magnification and deflection sensitivity, which result from unavoidable errors, both in numerical simulation and in practical assembly.
