Study Of The Vitality Of Urban Public Space

Urban public space is a sort of public place for the public activities of urban residents,but also an important exchange place of material,energy and information between human and the nature.It is an important stage for urban life,and it has direct impact on the quality of urban residents and the standard of city life.Vitality of urban public space is a capacity that makes space multi-functional,concentrated and frequent in the information exchange.It is an important factor in the social roles of urban public space so it plays an important role in the construction of urban public space.However,due to the urbanization and the functional transformation of urban public space which can not keep up with the process of updating rhythm of city design in the modern era,the importance of urban public space has not been paid sufficient attention by those city builders and designers.It is the human and space that make up of the two factors affecting the vitality of urban public space formation.Based on the two factors,this article discusses the concept and the manifestation of urban public space and,in accordance with the vitality elements that the three main types - street space,squares and parks show in the planning and design process,summers up the design principles and specific design methodology for the design of vitality of urban public space.The article also sets Shanghai New World street of Huaihai Zhong Road Project as an example,to change the lost urban public space into a portfolio form of urban public space,to restore its vitality,and to create benefits under the guidance of the principle of vitality,so as to not only beautify the city appearance,but also further enhance the quality of life and public image of the entire city.The thesis is divided into six chapters:The first chapter discusses the background of related research of urban public space at home and abroad,and points out the purpose and scope of research and research methods.The second chapter analyses the meaning of urban public space and its functions and importance based on the classification and composition.By introducing the concept of vitality,the third chapter observes the intrinsic constitutes of the vitality of urban public space,and it also discusses the importance of the vitality and its manifestation.Chapterâ…£is the focus of this article.It mainly analyses the principle of vitality on the basis of the concept and the manifestation of the vitality of urban public space.According to the characteristics of the individual forms of urban public space,the composition summarizes the specific methods of the design of vital urban public space to discover the dynamic law of the vitality construction of urban public design.Basing on the previous chapters,Chapterâ…¤researches the specific vitality construction of urban public space in Shanghai New World block of Huaihai Road.Combining with the design principles of the vitality of urban public space,the essay attempts to create a targeted assessment to explore the way of returning of the vitality of urban public space.
