Suburban rail traffic station has a significant impact on the promotion ofthe suburbs urbanization and urban space layout optimization. As animportant outer space which is service in urban public transportation, railtransit station and gateway plaza has a larger crowd degree of aggregation. Inthe impression of the surrounding residents, suburban rail transit station is notonly a site of public rail transport, and gradually becoming highly recognitionof regional landscape landmark. In recent years, the new urbanized areaaround the Suburban rail transit station has been initially has some of thecharacteristics of the TOD community. However, due to the disappearance ofthe original agricultural land, the lack of planning of urban construction greenarea and the built-up area, there is a high degree of difficulty of theconstruction of new public green. Suburban public green space in terms ofquantity and quality are far lower than the central city, the residents’ leisurerecreation on public green space needs are often not met.The main contents and conclusions of research:Firstly,through anoverview of the basic features、the project structure and function partition ofthe Suburban rail transit station, divided into59Shanghai the Suburban railtransit station. Secondly, based on the spatial characteristics and the elementscharacteristics of the Station, paper summarized space mode and featureclassification model of59Suburban rail transit station in Shanghai,andanalysis and evaluation them. Thirdly, based on the station’s spatial structureand TOD theory,proposed the Suburban rail transit station has the potential ability as a public green space. Analysis demand and feasibility of the stationas public green of Shanghai’s first suburban rail line-Line5. Fourthly, due tosuburban rail transit station by simple traffic function to the change ofpluralism function, proposed the landscaped suburban rail transit station andits concept, content, objectives and work level. Finally, based on theperspective of the suburban rail transit station as public green space,proposed station space layout optimization、engineering elements’landscapedesign optimization and plant configuration optimization landscape strategy.The main innovations of research:(1) The research proposes rail transit station is no longer just a single asthe commitment to public transport urban infrastructure, and has become thekey nodes of the TOD community in the station place, have regionallandscape landmark role.(2) The research proposes suburban rail transit station has a function as apublic green space. Suburban rail station space is included to the urban publicgreen system. It can play the part of the public green, and become a publiccommunity center with strong demand and feasibility in theory.(3) The research proposes the concept of landscaped rail transit station,and builds its theoretical framework. Urban rail transit in the planning andinitial construction period, its engineering characteristics significantly andlow quality of the environment are gradually not adapted to the requirementsof the station versatile function. Through station space layout optimization、engineering elements’landscape design optimization and plant configurationoptimization landscape strategy, can contributes to organic union of thestation construction, open square, ecological green land and streetenvironment.It can improve the regional living environment, constitute a richregional landscape types and shape regional characteristic of theenvironment.
