Beam-to-column connection with bolted-splicing in steel frame is the recommended connection type in our Technical Specification for Steel Structure of Tall Buildings and Code for Seismic Design of Buildings, this kind of connection has the combined advantage of shop welding and on-site high-strength bolting, and the welding quality is guaranteed,at the same time,it can accelerate construction progress,so it is widely used in multi-stories or high-rise buildings and industry workshop in both at home and abroad. But there is seldom research for the seismic behavior, especially for the beam-to-column weak axis(web) direction connection. In fact, due to moment resisting connections are made in both directions in steel frames, so beam-to-column web connections are generally as flange connection,at the same time, the theoretical analysis and design is more difficult,so studies on mechanical behavior and failure mechanism of beam-to-column web connection with bolted-splicing under cyclical load and puts forward suggestions for seismic design, has both a important theoretical significance and an engineering value. At first, several bolted-splicing design method are analyzed theoretically in this paper, and a new splicing design method is summarized according to the mechanical characteristics of steel moment-resisting frames, then splicing design which take advantage of these design method and finite element simulation for these design results are conducted,in the finite element calculation, triple nonlinear effect which includes the geometry nonlinear(large deformation, large strain),and material nonlinearity(material harden soften),and contact nonlinear(such as the contacts between bolt shank and hole, splice plates and beam) is considered.By comparing the results of splicing design and finite element calculation,it is found that the new splicing design method has advantages of transmits force directly, simple calculation, rational load-bearing,economic materials consumption,so the specimen which is designed by the new splicing design method is chose as the base specimen, and a series of specimens is designed by changing the thickness of beam flange and web as well as column, and monotonic and cyclic loading simulation for this series of specimens are conducted,at the same time, the impacts of every parameters on the seismic behavior of connection is analyzed in depth and some important conclusions are obtained, and some suggestions are given out which have important reference value for the seismic design and construction of splicing connection.
