Along with the steady development of the economy, the steel structures are being applied extensively because of the special function. During the 1994 Northridge earthquake and 1995 Kobe earthquake, the typical beam-column moment connection in steel moment-resisting frame suffered unexpected brittle failures. Therefore, it is particularly important to study on the beam-to-column connection of the steel frame.Firstly, it had been introduced that the basic theories of the steel frame structure, including the sort of the beam-to-column connection of the steel frame structure, the construnction of the beam-to-column connection of the steel frame structure, and the basic provisions for current design specifications, and so on.Secondly, in this thesis, by means of design point of view, the complete analysis and study had been done about the three kinds of main rigid connection design. Point out the problem which consist in the designs of the beam-column connection of the steel frame structure. Put forward the correct design methods about beam-column connection.lastly, cyclic-loading test of four steel frame beam-to-column connection with cantilever beam in rigid steel frame were carried out. It had been elaborated in detail the research of this connection. The results showed that: the stress of Stitching is far greater than the stress of the beam-column connection, the Purpose of formating plastic hinge in a suitable location on the beam had been implementated, which can designe the ductility frame structure and improve seismic energy capacity of the frame structure.This kind of connection has the combined advantage of shop welding and on-site high-strength bolting, which should have a better energy dissaption and plastic rotation capacity. This kind of connection is widely used in multi-stories or high-rise buildings and industry workshops in the USA and Japan, which is also the recommended connection type in our Technical Specification for Steel Structure of Tall Buildings and Code for Seismic Design of Buildings. But its seismic design is traditionally done according to equal-strength method. Little research has been done on this kind of connection. Its aseismic superiority has not brought into play. So the analyses of response and collapse mechanism of beam-to-column connections with cantilever beam splicing under seismic load is not only significant from project aspect, but also important in laying a foundation for further research.
