Federal Energy Regulation Commission (FERC) of the U.S. officially issued Standard Market Design in 2002 based on the successful experience at the northeast region of the US power systems. The goal of SMD is to establish a common market framework that promotes economic efficiency, lowers delivered energy costs, maintains power system reliability, mitigates significant market power and increases the choices offered to wholesale market participants. The key of SMD is the Locational Marginal Pricing (LMP) methodology, which is to identify the spot price and manage the transmission congestion. LMP methodology has been implemented or under implementation at a number of ISO's such as PJM, New York ISO, ISO-New England,California ISO, Midwest ISO, ERCOT.The thesis introduces the status of the theory researches and applications about nodal pricing in foreign electricity power market, than correspondingly analysis the advantages of nodal price system based on our country regional power market.A brief review is presented for Locational Marginal Price theory and two kinds of model to calculate LMP—based on ACOPF and DCOPF—are introduced,then different models based on DCOPF are disscussed and analyzed also.New formulas for calculating B matrix and transmission loss in DC power flow based on the weakly conditioned imputation theory are proposed in this paper, and the proposed formulas are applied for locational marginal pricing. The DCOPF-Based LMP Simulation are given in this paper. The split into LMP components is not dependent on the selection of the slack reference. The results of tests performed on the PJM5-bus system and the IEEE14-bus test system indicate that the proposed method of LMP in this paper is available.
