It's indicated from the large power blackout accidents home and abroad that if any failure of the interconnected power grid is not treated properly,then the problem of the local system will be diffused to the whole grid,resulting in the blackout of the whole interconnected power grid.Consequently,the extra-large power grid shall be monitored in different levels and various regions.The monitoring hereof shall be intensified at various levels of State Grid dispatching,so as to form a multi-level defense system.This paper firstly calculates kinds of operational modes for the safety and stability of Beijing power grid and evaluates the security hidden dangers of power grid.Meanwhile, it also theoretically demonstrates the construction necessity of wide-area measurement system for Beijing power grid.Secondly this paper proposes a design proposal of dynamic monitoring system based on wide-area measurement system for Beijing power grid including hardware structure of system,software functions and PMU distribution plan.At last this paper sets forth relevant recommendations.
