This thesis considers the unit commitment problem in the economic load dispatch for the thermal power plant.An optimization model which takes total fuel-cost as the objective function and takes into account many kinds of constraints is proposed.Genetic Algorithm(GA) is used to solve the optimization problem.The algorithm considers the start-up and shut-down of the units,thus makes the economic load dispatch more practical.Further,the optimal load dispatch problem with uncertainties is discussed.A mathematical model with the fuel-coal consumption uncertainties has been built.An algorithm combing the genetic algorithm and simulated annealing algorithm is proposed.Simulation results show that the algorithm can solve the economic load dispatch problem effectively.
