Several common airfoil series used in the horizontal axis wind turbine blades are introducted in detail and their characteristics are analyzed in this paper.Then,by using the commercial software Fine/turbo from NUMECA Company,25 NREL series airfoils have been simulated and consequently a further wind turbine airfoil database is established.Take S825 for instance,the numerical computational results are compared with the experimental data by discussing the effet of computational domain at different domain scales. different turbulence models and different mesh density.Finally,the reasonable numerical modle and turbulence model has been confirmed.In addition,the S825 airfoil at an attack angle range of -180°~180°has been simulated in this article.Judging from the computational results,the lift coefficient curve is of sinusoidal trend and the drag coefficient curve is of cosine trend.Meanwhile,the aerodynamic performance of wind turbine airfoil S825 has been studied under different Reynolds numbers.Moreover,according to the numerical results,the boundary layer data, which includes velocity profile,displacement and momentum thicknesses,have been analyzed in detail.
