Based on the present numerical research of the cooling tower, this thesis analyses and discusses the procedure of the heat and mass transfer between air and water inside the counter-flow closed wet cooling tower. With a counter-flow closed wet cooling tower to be a typical pattern, this thesis uses discrete phase model for the heat and mass transfer inside the cooling tower. The FLUENT program is applied for numerical simulation on the cooling tower,in which the required heat and mass transfer have been achieved by controlling the droplet velocity. Through calculation, several pictures about the distribution of varied parameters, such as air flow velocity, pressure, density, temperature, cooling water temperature, was drew. This thesis analyses the influence factors of heat transfer effective inside the counter-flow closed wet cooling tower, which include two parts: One,through calculation of the air speed distribution, the result indicates that uniform air speed distribution has better effectiveness to heat transfer. Two,through calculation of different ratio of air and water, the result indicates that the ratio of air and water which equals to 1 is favorable to heat transfer. While applying the FLUENT program for numerical simulation on cooling tower, this thesis collects experimental data on different conditions.Through the analysis of numerical data and experimental data on different conditions, this thesis find the best working condition.Conclusively, the results of this thesis provide the theoretical base and abundant researching data for the optimization of the counter-flow closed wet cooling tower.
