Reactive power optimization is a multi-variable and multi-constraint nonlinear optimization problem. Its operating variables include both continuous variables and discrete variables, and the optimization process is very complicated. Ant Colony Algorithm is a heuristic search algorithm based on probability selection. It fits for solving the reactive power optimization problem of distribution network, but at the same time, easily falls into the problems of local optimal solution. So Double Population Improved Ant Colony Algorithm is used to study Reactive Power Optimization Solution.This paper is a part of transverse project-power distribution automation master station system. Ultimate research objective is to develop part of senior function modules of distribution automation system-reactive power optimization based on dual population improved ant colony algorithm. The main contributions as follows:By taking SuperMap Objects 5 as developing platform and combining GIS component and the senior programming language Visual C#, power distribution GIS is developed.Network topology is base to power flow. The paper redefines the rule of node formation and combines DFS and BFS form a new topology analysis algorithm based on the distribution network Web GIS system. Through merges some nodes and confirms the work state of breakers, it makes the new topology. This paper has applied the forward/backward method to power flow calculation and network loss calculation. This method has high calculating efficiency and superior convergent property.Through comparaing with the original ant colony algorithm, this paper introduced Double Population Improved Ant Colony Algorithm's improved strategy. Under the comparison and test with the test function, the result show that Double Population Improved Ant Colony Algorithm has a higher application value which has more superior optimization results to the original ant colony algorithm's.Set up a reactive power optimization general mathematical model fit for the actual distribution network to make the network loss, voltage limit and capacitor investment costs to the lowest, give a complete realization scheme which applies the Double Population Improved Ant Colony Algorithm to the field of reactive power optimization of distribution network, and apply the program to the actual system to verify the feasibility of itself.This paper selected SQL Server 2000 as database management system, developed a reactive power optimization of distribution network software based on the Double Population Improved Ant Colony Algorithm with the Visible Advanced Programming Language VC#.NET and realized the connection with the GIS system. Finally, with an actual example calculation and analysis, and node voltage comparison with and without compensation, the results are proved to be satisfactory. It verified the effectiveness and feasibility of the algorithm and the results show that the algorithm has better effect on optimization.
