Research Of Section Capacity Between Intersections Based On Different Direction Traffic

This paper studies on the section capacity of different direction intersection.Section between intersections plays an important role in urban road system. The flow in section between intersections is chaos as a bottleneck of urban road system because the flow in the next intersection veers and is interlaced operation in the sections. The problems of sections between intersections are analyzed difficultly and most are lake of profound research because of the complexity of flow operation.This paper analyzes current road section between intersections analysis methods and a capacity determination method firstly based on the sum-up of road capacity research literature, and then generalizes traffic flow operation characteristics in road section between intersections, lane changing characteristics through analysis of field survey. At last the paper concludes the important factors which effects traffic flow operation in road section between intersections, analyzes how these factors influences traffic operation and capacity and studies traffic flow model which is relative with traffic flow operation in road section between intersections. On the basis of the above research, this paper establishes the model of road section capacity between intersections using gap acceptance theory, probability theory and so on and then applies VISSIM simulation software to simulate and studies on section between intersections.
