Basic establishment constructions in our country, such as water-power engineering, railway, highway and city construction, etc, involve slope stability analysis, in all these engineerings without exception. Herefore slope stability analysis is a basic problem that must be pay attention to.The main purpose of this thesis is carried out on the slope stability analysis, and with an emphasis on the impact of self-weight and rainfall conditions of slope stability safety factors, are studied and discussed. In this paper, the method of limit equilibrium and strength reduction finite element are expounded significantly, This thesis summarizes the development mechanics of slope engineering disasters based on our group's former research achievements and literature survey results, analyzes the major influence factors of slope stability. Compares with the conventional limit equilibrium method and the limit analytical method, the finite element method based on shear strength reduction (SSR)technique has many evident advantages in analyzing the stability of slope. The primary advantage of the SSR is that it can obtain the most dangerous slip surface and the corresponding safety factors of the slope without predetermin- -ing the shape and location of the slip surface, but only by reducing the shear strength parameters of the rock and soil of the slope continuously until the shear stress exceeds the shear strength and consequently result in the failure of the slope. To the specific projects as an example(Homogeneous and non-homogeneous slope), A solid model is setup to validate the results, compared the three basic judgments of slope deformation and failure, from the differences of the results of the numerical analysis, studied the similarities and differences between the method of Strength reduction FEM and the traditional limit equilibrium method. it proved the rationality of the result and the engineering applicability of this finite element.Analyzes the sensitivities of factor influencing slope stability, and the sensible factors influence slope stability are determined. The result show that the cohesion of the soil, the density and the internal friction angle are the most sensitive factors to the slope stability, the slope angle and the slope height are taken second place, which provide some references to the reasonably and effectively design of the actual slope work.In this paper, the seepage of slope and also stability analysis are analysised under the conditions of rainfall. the effects on seepage and stability of the slope are calculated, under different rainfall intensity, different rainfall duration, etc, different rainfall tyes. Come to the conclusion that the heavy rainfall, especially strong rainfall has a greater impact on slope stability. And it is found that the seepage field and the seepage force caused by the water level depression are the two significant factors affecting the surface deformation and the stability of slope. The seepage can decrease the safety factor of slope and the stability, which has the inverse ratio relation to the hydraulic gradient.
