Steel structure is an important structural style in modern projects, which is applied in infrastructure construction extensively now. The strength, rigidity or stability of structure can't meet operational requirements when steel structure has some critical defects and damages or its operational conditions change, so steel structure need to be strengthened. The principle of steel structure strengthened with fiber reinforced plastic sheet is that fiber reinforced plastic sheet is stick to the surface of high stress or damage region in steel structure by adhesive material, then some loads deliver to strengthen sheet through adhesive material, so it's effective to reduce material destruction and fatigue failure of steel structure. Compared to conventional steel structure reinforced ways, it has prominent advantages. These in-depth researches on material behaviors of glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet by some experimentations in order to provide credible and precise material parameters for theoretical analysis of steel structure strengthened with glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet, and performance of under stress of steel beam strengthened with glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet. It draws some conclusions of mid-span deflection distortion of steel beam strengthened with glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet and stress distribution of glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet form experimental researches. The conclusions can be referenced to further research of steel structure strengthened with glass fiber reinforced plastic sheet.
