Calculation of power flow of ship electrical power system is one of the basis for the steady-state operation of power system. The running state of the whole power system is governed by the given power system network structure and operating condition which mainly contains the nodes voltage (magnitude and phase angle), the power distribution and the power loss. The power flow is both the basis of the analysis of the rationality, the reliability and the economy of the designing and running state, and the foundation of the steady-state stability and transient stability calculation.In this paper the ship power system mathematical model is designed according to the characteristics of ship power system and based on the comparison of terrestrial power system and ship power system, and the model contains the nodal voltage equation, power equation constraint, and variable constraint.An on-line analysis of network topology using extent relevant matrix method is represented in this paper, according to the character of bulk ship power system. The extent relevant matrix is formed by circuit branch and node which are encoded according to the power supply relation. In this paper, power flow calculation with advanced node electric potential method, the different from the traditional node potential method is presented. The mathematical model and its parameters and the character of the load are taken into consideration, and the whole ship power system is considered to be constituted by nodes (bus-bar,switchboards,distribution Boards) and circuit branches (feeders, jumping wire, static loads). Generators and asynchronous motors are considered to be current source, static every load such as transformers are considered to be the single node and be added into the circuit branch incidence matrixes. The algorithm of the feasibility of the algorithm is verified using the improved method for power flow calculation and simulation experiment. With this algorithm, the simulation result can be more accurate and faster convergence.Finally, develop a good user simulation interface, aiming at a type of ship based on improved method, with Visual C++ 6.0 programming.
