Power Flow Calculation is one of the important analysis calculations in power system. It is used to solve the problem about network plan, design, operation and management.Especially in Power network simulating system,Power Flow Calculation is the key technology for the effect of simulation. The virtual DCS-based stimulation mode simulation system,which is a newly developed technology with greater simulating range,fine effect and excellent economics,is being approved and developed by more and more steam power plants.Based on discussions of principle and program, this paper describes the realizing way of power flow calculation in the virtual DCS-based stimulation mode simulation system.The purpose of power flow calculation is to calculate the bus voltage, branch current,power and network loss for steady state operation,based on known connection mode, parameter and operation condition of power network. This paper introduced the mathematical principle of using mathematical principle to describe the operating condition of power network. In this way the physical problem in power network can be transformed into a mathematical problem.Then the paper introduced two mathematical methods for this problem: gauss elimination method and Newton-Raphson power flow method. This provided mathematical references for the computer program of power flow calculation.Then the paper introduced the virtual DCS-based stimulation mode simulation system which is the platform for power flow calculation. In the introduction the paper gave a detailed description to the definition and definition of virtual DCS, and show the advantage of virtual DCS in simulation field through comparing the real DCS. The paper also introdued the technical principle, development model, software and hardware structure, technical features and function of stimulation mode simulation system. After that, support system was introduced. In essence to implement power flow calculation is to implement calculation and data communication function in stimulation system, to provide electrical model with precise data to ensure that stimulation system can operate efficiently and steadily.Finally, the paper discussed the technical features and realizing way of power flow calculation. As part of support system, the power flow calculation was implemented also by using object oriented programming technology. In order to be called or maintenanced easily, the power flow calculation is a single load module was designed to be a single algorithm module present in algorithms library. There were also instructions for implementation mode of power flow calculation based on structure and operation characteristic of plant power network. Through the analysis of operation law of power plant’s electric part, some programs such as nodes classification,node admittance matrix modification, or acquisition of initial values and model parametcrs,can be simplified.This can make program development, maintenance and debugging, easier and more efficient.
