As the reception room of the city, streets and plazas play an important role in people's living space, which reflect the history, the culture and the art appearance of the city.Due to the long-term influence of the division of functions, efficiency, utility and formalism, as the true host of the city space, the user's behavior and psychological needs have been ignored in the design, which leads to the large-scale existence of inhumanity of the space.Today the existence of many abnormal phenomena: a simple division of functions, large-scale deterioration of the environment, upside down of people and cars and ignorance of the context and the needs of the people makes the studying about meeting the psychological and behavioral needs of the street and plaza space have an urgent practical significance.Based on the discussion on the relationship between the streets and plazas place and the psychological and behavioral needs, the thesis analyses the people's common and uncommon reactions of psychology and behavior in the places of urban space, new demands and new concepts in new times and the role which they play in the space designing and construction.Through the investigation and research on the main streets and plazas in Changsha where the author lives, she shows the people's subtle demand and their disaffection of the space in contemporary cities. Based on the former research and analysis, the author points out that safety, comfort and enjoyment are the core goals of the streets and plazas space which satisfy people's psychological and behavioral needs. Besides, the author analyzes the transformation of Copenhagen City and the designing of the Beer Plaza and then points out that the designer should adhere to the design techniques "Scenario planning" and the joint work of Government, residents and the designer is the most effective method of implementation. What's more, the author puts forward the basic design principles "overall, the times and personalized".At last, the author concludes:1. The streets and the plazas space of satisfying psychological and behavioral needs are safe, comfortable and enjoyable.2. Creating the street and the plazas space of satisfying psychological and behavioral needs can be made after deeply analyzing the relation between the psychological and behavioral needs and the streets and the plazas space.3.
