The Study Of Design Of Senior Citizen Cultural Activity Center

Our country has stepped into an aging society, in which many senior citizens have abundant leisure time. Except for the basic needs for residence and medical care, they badly need various and convenient places for cultural activities. The cultural activity center for senior citizens in cities is an important part of public buildings and its development has attracted more and more attention.The first chapter of this thesis elaborates the rationale and background of the research conducted in the thesis. The focus of this chapter is to introduce the recent development of the aging society and the great significance of developing cultural activity center for senior citizens. Then this chapter introduces the research methods used in the thesis, which includes the investigation of the recent situation, related documents and theoretical researches. At last, this chapter makes a brief statement on the recent researches on the topic all over the world and the definition of some basic concepts in the thesis. The development of cultural activity centers for senior citizens in cities worldwide, their main social functions and developing trend as well as the great significance for China's society are all covered in chapter two. In chapter three, the physical, psychological and behavioral characteristics of senior citizens are analyzed. Chapter four conducts a deep analysis on the functional components of cultural activity center for senior citizens and the principles of spatial organization. In chapter five, the thesis summarizes the basic principles of the construction of cultural activity center, including site selection, function organization, designing, organization of transportation and environmental designing, etc. At last, the thesis also concludes the shortcomings during the development of cultural activity centers for senior citizens in cities; furthermore, the thesis put forward some suggestion from perspectives of planning, investment construction and management.This thesis selects the cultural activity centers for senior citizens in cities as researching subject. The focus is to explore the characteristics, developing trend of different cultural activity centers for senior citizens in cities and important issues during their development in the aging society. Taking the study on physical, psychological and behavioral characteristics of senior citizens as the researching foundation, this thesis will explore the designing of the cultural activity centers in cities by borrowing the experience in this field from foreign countries and further put forward a series of technical suggestions, hoping the researching results will be beneficial to the future construction of cultural activity centers in cities in our country.
