The Strategy Research On The Appropriate Technique Applied In The South Hilly Areas

The sloping fields around the world take up more than 70% of the whole land areas, where lives 10% of the global population About 30%~40% of the world's total population live on sloping fields'rich production material . In china, the hilly areas cover about a million sqkm, accounting for 10% of the country's total areas. This research deals with the appropriate technology strategy for the buildings in southern hilly areas, focusing on how to follow the traditional architecture technology and how to optimize the existing resource that is used in southern hilly areas and absorb the advanced technology and theory at home and abroad in order to provide the theoretical and practical basis for the eco-design of building and better protection of the hilly area.This thesis not only provides various effective measures of designing for the south hilly areas, but also introduces a few outstanding programs designed by well-known architects at home and abroad who fully take the differences of geographical environment into consideration. Through the analysis and comparison of those programs, the thesis will come up with the most appropriate strategies for the south hilly areas by means of selection and integration. This is beneficial for the theoretical development about architecture and is of some significance to guide practice. This paper on the basis of investigation, professional and interdisciplinary knowledge aims at offering demonstration and theoretical supports to the application of suitable strategies for the building of architecture in southern hilly area by means of a series of scientific research methods.There are five chapters in this thesis. In chapter one, it is a brief introduction about the present development of the construction industry and the backgrounds of this research such as its resource, its goals and methodology. In chapter two , the basic information about the southern hilly areas will be introduced in order to lay a foundation for the following discussions. And, The third chapter gives a definition of the appropriate technology, and introduces its effects on human society and its necessity in the process of architecture design. Meanwhile, there will be an analysis on the top- class designing programs concerned. Chapter four, on the basis of the traditional strategies ,will propose some innovative ones that are applicable to southern hilly areas with full consideration of geographical features there Such strategies are expected to solve the following problems—the heat preservation and the heat insulation of the buildings, light shield, nature lighting and nature ventilation. In the last chapter, in the light of the analysis on a series of examples which have adopted the appropriate ecological strategies , the author will conclude the practical and feasible technical strategies for the application and development of architectural technologies in southern hilly areas.
