In recent years, due to the rapid development of power systems, the unceasingly enhanced voltage level of the power grids, and the completion and commissioning of more and more power plants, the power plant density enhance unceasingly and the inner electric distance between power plants is getting smaller and smaller. Because of such situation, it is very difficult to improve voltage level of the whole power grid or the region by the adjustment of individual Generators or individual power plants, and even the use of a single generating unit or a single power plant can not effectively control the system voltage.Therefore, it can be only under the premise of unity scheduling to change the reactive power of more than one generating units (or more power plants) to make the region voltage at a fairly good level. Reference to the actual situation of 2*600MW units and the southern part power grid of Hebei, this thesis researched the basic principles of automatic voltage regulation technology and analyzed by the fact that the voltage stability and the power quality are in progress to the power grid before and after the installation of the Automatic Voltage Control(AVC) equipment. Finally this thesis draws the conclusion that, after the system additionally builds the AVC equipment, the province dispatch center recur the schedule of the power plant generating units for reactive power remote control enhance the high-voltage bus voltage level of power plants, thereby to enhance the region's power supply voltage level to improve the region's power grid quality.
