Natural gas driven VM cycle heat pump works according to the theory of closed VM refrigeration cycle using thermal as power with regenerators. Its application is significant to the sustainable development of energy and environment. Thermodynamic analysis based on the first law is processed to point the influence of the heat source temperatures to the performances in ideal VM cycle, and the irreversible losses in actual VM cycle heat pump. Quanta VM cycle is ladder optimized using finite time thermodynamics. Analysis and comparison of the ideal VM cycle performances with the three natual working gases, helium, hydrogen and neon is done through EES software. The regenerators and heat exchangers are investigated theireticly and experimentally. Thermoeconomic analysis of natural gas driven VM cycle heat pump is done. These indicate that natural gas driven VM cycle heat pump is a high efficiency and energy saving technology.
