| Detection of turbo-generator rotor faults is primary important because of the large mechanical stress and thermal loads on the continuously high-speed rotating rotors. This paper analyzes the fault mechanism, the fault causes, the dangers, the fault characters and the diagnosis methods of the air-gap eccentric fault, the rotor turn-to-turn short circuit fault, the asymmetric rotor cooling and the asymmetric confriction between the exciting windings and the rotor and guard ring. Then a rotor turn-to-turn short circuit fault diagnosis practice example is offerd in the paper. Finally, a rotor fault diagnosis expert system is developed, which can speedly diagnose the corresponding rotor faults. The achievements gained in this paper are full of active meaning. |
