With the improvement of people's living standards and rapid development of tourism, in tourist areas the design of large dynamic sculptures in the city plays an important role in upgrading the city image and increasing tourism programs, and brings significant social and economic benefits. In Weihai, the large dynamic sculpture drive system design which is planned by Shandong Huaxia Group has the characteristics of complexity on driving, high weight, too many drive links and higher synchronization requirement, the large sculpture dynamic mechanical drive system of the overall program and electrical control system is designed to achieve better control goals.The overall program of the large dynamic sculpture's mechanical drive system is researched. In the structure of mechanical drive a multi-motor drive and planetary gear reducer are adopted so as to solve the problem of the narrow internal space for the installation, which can better meet the transmission and synchronization requirement of the drive framework.The VVVF technology is adopted for the motors' speed adjustment and the vector control mode of the converter is used to achieve the motors' speed closed-loop control. This method not only solves the problems that include the motors' start-up mechanical and electrical shocks, the motors' running synchronization, as well as the effectiveness and other safety issues of braking, but also can effectively save electrical energy about 10%.The frequency converter speed control system which is the core of the task is designed, and the hardware realization of the program is put forward. The Basic Operating Panel is for the purpose of setting and modifying the parameters during system debugging. And, Profibus interface module can easily realize communications with the host PLC. The converters regulate torques of the up-down motors to control them maintain balance in the torque output of motors movements, as well as the rotation motors.The control system is designed with PLC as the master controller, and the program is put forward. Control circuits, control theory and control procedures are illuminated.Analysis of the three-phase AC motor dynamic equations and the principle of vector control are illuminated. With the Matlab / Simulink block, the simulation model on the variable regulation system is established so as to analyze the torque characteristics and speed adjustment features during the start-up stage. And the simulation results show smooth curves in start-up stage, indicating good steady state characteristics.Features of the configuration software MCGS is dissertated. Theman-machine interface system——"Large Dynamic Sculpture MonitoringInterface" is designed, which is gifted at safe and simple operation so that the complete automation is gained easily, and using which we can easily monitor the system operating status and timely detect and rule out the fault.
