The landslide is a kind of important geological calamity. Our country is in the high-speed period for development of economic construction at present. The landslide brings enormous loss to water conservancy , railway , highway and mine construction. And the key of slope stability analytical method is to choose the suitable strength theory.This text has summarized slope stability analytical method and research current situation of strength theory at home and abroad, introduce the theory to the tri-shear failure theory to the application study of the slope problem. And has made comparisons to the smilarity and difference among the moire-coulomb theory,twin shear strength theory and the tri-shear failure theory one by one. The result shows, tri-shear failure theory has remedied the deficiencies of the moire-coulomb theory and twin shear strength theory,and has contained the twin shear strength theory.This text uses STAB software to slope stability analytical to the three kinds of strength theory that is chosen,to calculating the safety factor of the income is discussed. The result indicates,there is obvious regularity to the three kinds of strength theory calculate the slope safety factor received,introduce the tri-shear failure theory,the stability of the slope improves to some extent, and the slope tends towards stability further. At the same time the application finite element software made a same analysis to calculate. Through analysing and discussing in calculating plastic strain distribution map and safety factor received. Result indicate,the higher the index of physical and mechanical parameters of the soil chosen is, the larger the shear strength of the soil is,the anti-skipping force of soil the greater.Can know by the analysis and research of the above,The defect that the moire-coulomb theory and twin shear strength theory exists while it is analysed that the shear strength of soil can't be ignored. The tri-shear failure theory is compared with two kinds of other strength theory,more scientific,the scope of application is wider; The tri-shear failure theory can nearly one perfect project strength theory.
