Reynolds mat slope protection structure is widely used in ecological slope protection projects due to its good water permeability,being suitable for vegetation growth and being convenient for construction.On the one hand,Reynolds mat reduces the scouring effect of rainwater on slopes,and the formation of root-soil composite structures by plant roots'passing through Reynolds mats help to enhance overall slope stability.However,on the other hand,the Reynolds mat may slip along slope surface as a result of its own weight,causing failure of the slope protection,and may have adverse influence on overall slope stability as a load exerted on the surface of the slope.Therefore,it is of great engineering value in better application of Reynolds mat in practices and assuring slope security to reveal the rules of both Renault mat's anti-sliding capacity and the overall stability changes of the vegetation-Renault mat protection slope.In the Paper,it is firstly introduced the structure of Reynolds mat and mechanism of slope protection,deduced the formula for calculating anti-sliding safety factor of the mat itself,studied the anti-sliding capacity of Reynolds mat structure under different slope heights and slope angles,and calculated the critical slope height of Renault mat when no additional fixing measures are required.Then,it is worked out a simplified Bishop program for slope stability analysis and used this program to study the overall slope stability variations after laying Reynolds mats.Finally,considering the reinforcement and anchoring effect of the vegetation root system,a simplified Bishop program is used to explore the variation of the overall stability of the vegetation-Renault slope protection.Specific research work and conclusions are as follows:(1)Analysis on the anti-sliding capacity of Reynolds mat structure.In this part,the composition,structural parameters,construction procedures and slope protection mechanism of Reynolds mat are introduced;formula of self-anti-skidding(without taking fixing measures)capacity of the pad is deduced,and the analytic solution of self-anti-skidding safety factor is obtained;then variations of the self-anti-skidding safety factor with various slope heights and slope angles are analyzed,which leads to the critical slope height of Reynolds mat without additional fixing measures and provides reference for the design and construction of Reynolds mat slope protection.(2)Analysis on the overall stability of Reynolds mat slope protection.Here,the calculation program of slope stability safety factor is compiled according to the basic principle of simplified Bishop method,and verified using ACADS standard test,which has proved the correctness;the program is used to calculate the overall stability safety factors before and after laying Renault mat on the slope protection project of a building in Huayin Residential Area in Changsha City,finding that the overall slope stability is slightly reduced after adopting Renault mat,but still meets the standard safety requirements;besides,variations of overall stability safety factor of Reynolds mat under conditions of slope angle of 30°&varied slope height and slope height of 8m&varied slope angle respectively are studied,and the situation that the slope may be destabilized and require protection is given.(3)Analysis on the overall stability of vegetation-Reynolds mat slope protection.The distribution characteristics of vegetation root system and the mechanism of root solidification are introduced;the overall stability safety factor expression of the vegetation-Renault slope protection is given;the influence of vetiver root length on slope safety factor are analyzed on the slope of a building in Huayin Residential Area,Changsha City,with a conclusion that with the growth of vetiver root,slope stability keeps increasing;moreover,variations of overall stability safety factor of Reynolds mat under conditions of vetiver root length of 3m,a slope angle of 30°&varied slope height,and vetiver root length of 3m,slope height of 8m&varied slope angle respectively are studied using the engineering slope soil parameters,and the contribution of vetiver root to reinforce slope stability under different conditions was analyzed.
