Power transfer is an important aspect for the people in making use of energy. Recently, as a novel power transfer method, contact less mobile power supply(CMPS)technique can achieve contact less power transfer effectively, safely and avoid a series of disadvantage arose by the transmission line. Therefore, this technique is widely used in many applications such as public transport systems, automaton, compact electronic devices, mining and watering applications. This thesis discusses the topics for the peculiarity and main types in the field of CMPS technology, and it contrasts some CMPS technique as well. The basic theory and applicable fields of the inductively coupled power transfer(ICPT)technology are briefly presented. Then, the thesis gives emphasis to the actuality, progress and achievement up to now related to the technology in and abroad. The thesis introduces structures of the ICPT system and theory of power transfer technology. Regular principles of design process are also discussed. First, concepts of coupled inductor and coupled coefficient are explained, then several transformers of different coupled forms are analyzed; as an important part of CMPS system, the loosely coupled transformer is analyzed and designed by software. Simulation model is also created by the software. Aiming at the main circuit, the topology about primary and secondary compensation of the loosely coupled circuit is introduced, and then appropriate compensation parameter is selected by the software.According to theory analysis and simulation result, a CMPS experiment platform is designed and constructed. Principles of main circuit, control circuit and protection circuit are introduced. Then experiments are carried out on different cores and air gaps. Affect factors on ICPT system efficiency are analyzed subsequently. The paper introduces power supply methods for underwater equipments in home and abroad, and it points out that energy is the main factor for them to achieve long endurance. ICPT and chargeable cell scheme are presented to solve the problems of the former underwater equipments' power supply mode. The design method, emphases and prospect of the CMPS technology's underwater application are summarized finally.
