In the process of human being transforming both the world and nature, natural "resistance" is often encountered, especially the earthquake disaster, which makes people often unawares. In 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake, thousands lives, together with accumulation of material wealth for generations have suddenly been destroyed. China is located in the intersection of Central Pacific seismic belt and Asian and European parts of the seismic zone, which is an earthquake-prone country. There are more than 19 times of earthquakes above Grade five averagely each year, resulting in a large number of casualties and property losses. Thus, we should be strengthened for earthquake defense and protection research.However, with the current level of science and technology, earthquake can not be accurately predicted. Even so, through our efforts we can still significantly reduce the extent of damage. Among them, earthquake defensive products can help us to achieve this purpose to a large extent. Japan, separated from us by sea, encountered the same problem. However, researches on earthquake defense lead the world, and even have reached a zero death. Earthquake defensive products in Japan have become a relatively mature industry.In this paper, a large number of actual cases and analysis of survey data demonstrate the necessity of earthquake defensive products development, and search on earthquake defensive products design from the functionality, appearance and physiological characteristics of human being. In which, involve specific issues such as human injury, human needs, design materials, structural design, ergonomics, semantics, appearance, home environment. Finally, an actual design case verifies the feasibility of the design theory proposed in this paper.This paper aims to develop a basic theory platform for the development of earthquake defense products design, and look forward to sufficient attention of the relevant departments, and truly apply the products into the earthquake defense.
