Xigeda-rock is distributed in the southwest region of china. It belongs to extreme soft-rock with special characteristics, for example, it can be mashed and softened by water and will rupture when being dehydrated. The research data about this rock and cast-in-place pile in this rock is badly scarce. The clear and complete computational methods in current criterions have not yet been found. So it is significant to study embedding effect of cast-in-place pile in Xigeda-rock.Based mainly on the subject "Testing Study on Bearing Properties of Pile Foundation in Xigeda-Rock" under the western traffic scientific research project "Research on Highway Construction Techniques in Xigeda-Rock" , and associated with provincial scientific research project "Testing Study on Bearing Properties of Bored Pile in Xigeda-Mudstone in Xichang-Panzhihua Expressway", this paper conducts comparatively systematic research for the appropriate rock-socketed length of single pile in Xigeda-rock. In accordance with the analysis of the vertical static load testing materials of single pile in Xinjiu and Puba regions, the author comprehended the pile bearing behavior and ultimate bearing capacity. Using of finite element simulation procedures, the author selects a constitutive model to calculate cast-in-place pile of different depth, and analyses the calculations comparing to the testing results to identify the model parameters, and then simulates the deeper cast-in-place piles in bearing behavior. Finally, the author works out the law that the rock-socketed length affects the vertical bearing capacity of single pile in Xigeda-rock, and comes up with the sum of a reasonable rock-socketed length. Fully considering of various factors about cast-in-place piles in engineering, the author ensures that the results of calculation close to the actual results.In order to provide reference for the design and construction of pile foundation work in Xigeda-rock, this article analyses the stress of the deeper rock-socketed pile to determine single pile bearing behavior, because the most depth of cast-in-place pile is less than 20m.
