Soil Stabilizer-Reinforcing Soil is made by using soil as the main material, which is plenteous at the local. The extraction and processing of soil are relatively easy, so it is technically and economically of great significance. Ionic Soil Stabilizer belongs to the type of organic compound. It has lots of advantages such as high efficiency, easy to transport and use, strong adaptability to the soil, et al.The Sichuan province Miansui Expressway, proposed to construct by China Railway Erju Co.Ltd, will across a large number of the red sandstone, which is a sort of soil with the characteristics of water collapsing. Its nature for engineering is poor, so it's not appropriate as pavement structure material of Miansui Expressway. Now in this subject, we meliorate the red sandstone by using Ionic Soil Stabilizer- EN-1 Soil Stabilizer, the meliorative soil will be more appropriate as Miansui Expressway Pavement materials.In this paper, we first analysed the chemical composition and micro-level structure of red sandston through spectral analysis and scanning electron microscopy, and studied the mechanism of EN-1 Soil Stabilizer in meliorating the red sandstone, combined with the curing mechanism of the ionic soil stabilizer.Then we performed the experimental study on physical properties and mechanical characteristics of the meliorated soil. Through the analysis of the compressive strength, the shear strength and some physical properties parameters, the best proportion of the curing agent was determined. Based on this, we studied further on some characteristics of the solidified soil, such as water stability, permeability, direct shear strength, compressibility, CBR, resilient modulus splitting strength etc, was performed. The meliorated soil's general mechanical properties will provide a technical support for the comprehensive promotion of its application in the highway.In the end, based on the test data above, we used ANSYS10.0 finite element analysis software to perform the three-dimensional numerical simulation on the optimal portfolio of meliorated soil surface structure and the proposed traditional surface structure, under the standard vehicle load. Then we contrast the calculation results of the different two types to verify the feasibility and reliability of the meliorated road surface structure.
