There are millions of industry boilers in China, which consume great quantity of energy. At the same time, there are many common problem in the boilers, such as the ability and responsibility of stoker and automatic control system of the boilers are very low, besides these, they are always in on-off operation and banked period, so the efficiency of the boilers are very low as well. With the coming of energy crisis, the government of China strengthens the supervision on industry boiler for higher efficiency. In order to hit the target, an operation optimization guidance system has been developed, which is base on the old control system of the boiler. This paper is focus on how to improve the operation efficiency of industrial boilers. In order to solve the problems of the industrial boiler which mention above, some research have been done in the following three ways.Firstly, as we know that there are many time that the industrial boilers are in banked period. In order to make clear about the combustion characteristics in the on-off operation, some experiments study have been carried out in the chain grate stoker boiler and unit furnace, both of the results of the experiment show that original temperature is the key factor. It has the greatest affect on the wastage of coal. Based on these experiments and results, a model that forecasts the wastage of coal in the banked period has been advanced as well.Secondly, it is very common in china that the ability and responsibility of stokers is very low. As the environment changed, many of them couldn't adjust the boiler to an optimal condition, In order to get the optimal parameter in different condition, some orthogonal experiments have been carried out in a chain grate stoker boiler. After the experiments, the optimization of some key parameters have been found, the key parameters include the depth of the coal bed, the speed of the chain grate and the frequency of the Blower.Finally, in order to solve the problems of the industrial boiler mentioned above, an operation optimization system has been developed. This system, which based on the old control system and the optimization of the key parameters of the boiler, is built up by Configuration Software, PLC and industrial control machine. Now this system has been taken into practice for about two years successful in a company.
