Wind power as a clean energy is supported by many countries all over the world to be researched and developed. MW wind turbine is widely invested, and has a broad future. But all MW wind turbines are located in far remote area, such as offshore and desert, and spread in a wide area with many sets. These cause them far from monitoring and controlling centre. Wind turbines are easily to sustain damage due to bad surrounding condition, and their complicated electronic devices. In order to make wind turbines more competitive, their life and efficiency must be enhanced. So it is very important for the wind turbine and wind farm to have reliable remote monitoring and automatic controlling. Condition monitoring is the way to keep wind turbine running normally, optimizing wind turbine equipment, diagnosing default. It is meaningful to develop and optimize a monitoring and controlling system.Condition monitoring aims to find out the way to predict and analyze a default. Through automatic online monitoring technology, real time monitoring and diagnosing can be realized, and moreover, the wind turbine's condition can be predicted, so that damage can be avoided. Online condition monitoring and controlling shows the condition of wind turbine, and predict possible damage so that the operation of a wind turbine will be optimized.This essay is written based on the research of actual operation of wind farm and remote monitoring and controlling system, and uses the GE 1.5 MW doubly-fed induction wind turbine generator as a prototype to be monitored, and applies the VI technology and the software LabVIEW 8.5 of American National Instruments Corporation to develop a remote condition monitoring operation system. And as per the character of wind turbine and wind farm, a telecommunication method will be chosen after comparison and analysis. The purpose of the condition monitoring system is to realize quantitative analysis with curve fitting, statistical analysis, frequency response etc., to show data with chart and table, and to save all data. After being simulated, it is proved that the system is practical and operational. And it worthy of being developed further and optimized in operation on site.
