In this paper, the best conditions of modified and regenerative activated aluminum for the treatment of fluorinated water were studied in the performance of the process. The result showed that the effect of defluoridation by sodium hydroxide modified activated alumina was better. At the same time, studied various factors on the sodium hydroxide modified activated alumina after the fluoride ion adsorption, including the following: the concentration of sodium hydroxide, the modified time, the neutralizing concentration of sulfuric acid and time. The wastage and static saturated loading capacity of sodium hydroxide modified activated alumina weredetermined. The result indicated that the static saturated loading capacity of modified activated alumina is 2.3times compared to unchanged activated alumina.Sodium metaaluminate as a regenerant has better regeneration effect to regenerate saturated activated alumina. At the same time, the effect of the concentration of sodium metaaluminate, regenerative time, the neutralizing concentration of sulfuric acid and time for regenerative activated aluminum were studied. The static saturated loading capacity of regenerative and modified activated alumina was 83.44% compared to preresurgence modified activated alumina. The dynamic experiments showed the dynamic absorption is obviously affected by the high of the absorption layer, the raw concentration, absorption layer and the size of the alumina. The effective run time of modified activated aluminum was 6.4times than unchanged activated alumina. The regeneration of modified activated alumina also had a good adsorption effect. The result indicated that the dynamic saturated loading capacity of modified activated alumina is 4.917mg/g which is 6.4times compared to unchanged activated alumina. The dynamic saturated loading capacity of regenerative and modified activated alumina was 2.463mg/g.
