Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) method makes the rectifier have the advantages of sinusoidal input current, unity power factor and low total harmonic distortion(THD). Especially Hysteresis Current Control is the favor of researchers, because of its easy implementation, fast dynamic response, and insensitivity to load parameter variations. However, the three phase hysteresis sets are respective to each other, lack of harmony, which leads to high switching frequency. So it needs to propose a novel algorithm based on Hysteresis Current Control to redunce the switching frequency.This paper initially introduces several PWM control algorithms, and analyzes the mathematical model of 3-phase PWM rectifier. Where,Hysteresis Current Control is introduced and simulated in Matlab/Simulink.In order to reduce the switching frequency, hysteresis space voltage vector based on Hysteresis Current Control and Space Voltage Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) is suggested. This method is simulated in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results show that: the rectifier based on novel control method has the advantages of low total harmonic, sinusoidal input current and unity power factor; especially when the current hysteresis band is 0.5A, the switching frequency of Hysteresis Current Control is 16.4kHz, while the switching frequency of hysteresis SVPWM is 9.5kHz; when the current hysteresis band is 0.1A, the switching frequency of Hysteresis Current Control 59.8kHz, while the switching frequency of hysteresis SVPWM is 42.1kHz. Then a novel hysteresis SVPWM is introduced.In addition, this paper gives the method to solve some problems, which appear in the design of 3-phase PWM rectifier with TMS320F2812DSP being the controller. The validity of this control method is confirmed by experiments.
