Strategy Of Ecosystem & Environment On Highway Development Of Gansu Province

Environment and development, which is one of the most important issues nowadays, has attracted the universal attention. It is the common target to seek a way that can coordinate the development of society, economy, environment and resources. The development of highway transportation is also tied up intensively with environment. Along with the rapid development of highway construction, the jumping growth of the total mileage of roads and the ownership of motor vehicles result in serious deterioration of environment. Environmental problems caused by the construction of highway, such as the losing of water and soil, decreasing of biologic multiformity, highway noise, wastewater of motor vehicles as well as pollution of water quality, have been the whole society.Analyzing the environmental factors, the task of environment protection and the features of highway construction, this thesis discusses environmental problems caused by highway construction and the content, procedure and methodology of environment impact assessment(EIA).In addition, it is studied on the major targets of highway environment ptotection, environment protection design and methods and measures. Furthermore, it is discussed the practical application of EIA, environment protection design, methods and measures as well as environment management of highway construction projects. It is concluded that the relationship of "Highway and Environment" can be well handled by attaching importance to environment protection, following the environment protection procedute strictly and combining the means of engineering, biology and administration together. Ihus the highwag construction can meet the requirements of the development of economy and transportation, and the pollution and deterioration of environment can be reduced or avoided so as to keep the sustainable development of socie-economy and environment.
