Large cantilevered structure is widely used in the stadium projects with a large variety of structure models. Pre-stressed techniques were applied to cantilevered structures, which has the characteristic of high rigidity, good bearing capability and economy. Contrasted to the traditional structures, the conspicuous characteristic of large span structure is the overall stability. With the design of two stadium projects, which are located at Guizhou and Hainan, the overall stability of large cantilevered steel roof structures was studied in this paper. This paper studies the stability of large cantilevered pre-stressed structure, which is oblique crossing plane truss construction, the influence of different system arrangement, such as apply prestressing or not, prestressing tension of cable and setup purlin or not, to structure displacement, eigenvalue buckling, nonlinear buckling were analyzed. Through the analysis of structure displacement, eigenvalue buckling, nonlinear buckling with different type of joints, including the joints of web member and chord, the joints of chord in both directions, the influence of type of joints to structural overall stability was put forward. Aiming at large cantilevered solid truss structure, the influence of purlin and the joints of web member and chord to structure displacement, eigenvalue buckling, nonlinear buckling were researched. This paper also does some research about two key joints in the large cantilevered pre-stressed structure, with the method of non—linear finite element analysis. The first one is non-linear frictional contact behavior of cable-steel friction joints, the influencing factors of friction loss and theoretical basis are discussed. The second is Y-joints, which support the upper steel roof structure, the mechanical behavior and the areas that need to build up were analyzed.
