Connecting rod is one of the key components of engine, whose quality affects engine's work performance and life-span directly. Consequently, high precision of size and form is necessary.This paper designed a comprehensive measurement system of connecting rod for the 265 type based on mechatronics which could get several geometry parameters conveniently at one time. This system was designed based on the method of comparative measurement which can convert big-size measurement to micro dimension measurement and reduce metrical difficulty and increase precision. Every kind of measurement error was analyzed and caculated theoretically in detail, including system error and random error, and gained total error of the equipment finally. A VB program was designed for the system which could make the operating process conveniently. The measuring and calculation result is managed and maintained by the program based on a Access database as well.The total error of the equipment was less than allowed high-point error (6μm) through analysed experiment data at present. So the equipment we designed can fill the measuring demand. The next work is to obtain more experiment data of the system as the experiment condition reached which will establish bedrock for improving measuring precision of the metrical mechanism.
