Hydraulic jump is a basic hydraulic phenomenon in nature and engineering, which are general of turbulent and submerged, including the complicated free surface. Hydraulic jump mainly plays the role of energy dissipation in water conservancy engineering. Firstly, A comprehensive review and expectation about research status in the world are given in this paper. Secondly, the effects of four different factors, the mesh division, the modeling range, turbulence model and discretization scheme,on the computational results of the subermerged hydraulic jump have been investigated in detail. Thirdly, The Volume of Fluid method is introduced to the Realizable k-εturbulence model and combined the geometry reconstruction scheme to solve the free surface. Based on the built model, the hydraulic characteristics of submerged hydraulic jump with simple bourndary condions are discussed, including the flow pattern, velocity field, pressuer field, hydaulic jump length, energy loss etc. The numerical simulation results are compared with the results of the experimentation, which are agreed well with each other. Furthermore, The method about how to calculate actual dissipation rate is introduced. Finally, combined with the A'an water diversion project in the west line of south to north water diversion project, studied the hydraulic characteristics of hydraulic jump with complex bourndary condions in diversion tunnel. The numerical simulation results are agreed with the experimentation as a whole.
