In this thesis, the development, structural styles and characteristics of long-span continuous steel truss arch bridges are summarized. Taking the main bridge of Nanjing Dashengguan Changjiang Bridge, which is a continuous steel truss beam arch bridge, as the case study. Three dimensional finite element model of the main bridge is developed for spatial analysis, using general commercial software MIDAS/CIVIL 2006.There are three main aspects of contents as follows:1. Static analysis: Effects and combined effects of actions including dead load, train live load, wind load and temperature variation are analyzed and the results are judged according to the related codes; Static characteristics of continuous steel truss beam arch bridges are summarized.2. Dynamic analysis: The natural vibration modes and frequencies of the bridge are computed using the subspace iteration method. Subsequently, the effect of seismic action are analyzed using response spectrum method.3. Stability analysis: Two kinds of stability problems are introducted and the eigenvalue stability of the bridge are analyzed. Finally, according to the results in each chapter, force-bearing characteristics of continuous steel truss beam arch bridges were summarized. Several issuses need to be furtherly studied were proposed.
