Steel arch is a structure that is old and new, ancient history because the development of arch has thousands of years, the novel is due to the application of steel in arch structure is only in recent years. This paper combines a highway toll station in Hefei which is a large-span steel arch, using SAP2000 to set up the structure model, researching the stability and mechanical properties of the structure.Firstly, this paper studies the linear stability of the large-span steel arch structure, research shows that under fairly stable situation, single-arch structure needs larger cross-section than steel truss arch structure, which increasing the amount of steel. Because relatively few studies of this single-arch structure, so this article changes the rise-to-span-ratio, finding that stability of the structure is loosing with rise-to-span-ratio increasing. Then considering the impact of concrete filled steel pipe for structural stability, when filling concrete arch section, structural stability increases, but with the increased use of concrete, stability reduced, and ultimately determine comparative model of this paper is two-meter diameter Empty steel arch and distance fifth arch span concrete arch structure steel pipe filled with concrete.Than, this paper researches the nonlinear stability(considering P- △ effect, large displacement effects) of the above-identified model, finding that nonlinear factors has more influence on the partly filled concrete steel tube arch structure. In the bearing capacity analysis of the two structures, eight load cases are selected, concluding that the mechanical properties are basically the same, and the structure is mainly bearing axial force.Due to the weight increase, the axial force of partly filled concrete steel tube arch is greater than the empty steel arch. And by comparison of the economy, discovering filled with concrete can save some about 248t steel. Finally, the paper using modal analysis, response spectrum analysis and time history analysis to study the seismic performance of the structure. The load cases of seismic analysis include X seismic action,Y seismic action,XZ seismic action and YZ seismic action evaluating the performance of the structure through control bars’ internal force and control nodes’ displacements mainly in the four cases, and to provide some suggestion for the subsequent design of the similar structure.
