Research On Traditional Builing Materials In Modern Architecture In Chengdu Area

The old saying that "Bricks go with tiles, and woods combine with bamboo" is the best description of the traditional building materials used in Chengdu area. But how to use the traditional building materials to construct buildings full of modern features is a profound questions worth discussing.Based on the application of traditional building materials, this article points out that the traditional building materials have become a powerful weapon to express culture and emotion.It also argues about, on the base of the recent application of traditional building materials in Chengdu, the potentiality of traditional materials in modern architecture; discusses about the display of the architect' s personality and the realization of the characteristic of construction even a city.In addition, the article claims that in order to develop the energy and potentiality of traditional building materials, the advancement of the materials it self, creative application in different areas, and enhance its biological initiative are required. Examples and evidences are given to prove that the application of traditional building materials has a promising future.In the end, it concludes concrete strategies and methods by combining to the application theory of traditional building materials and the current condition of their application in Chengdu. May it guide the practice in real application, in order to stimulate the vitality of traditional building materials and realize the diversification personalization and humanization.
