The finite element model is often simplified or assumed by engineers with their experience in early stage of structure design. The result of the structure responses that calculated by using these models are often far from the actual test result. It is necessary to use the exact parameters of structure to modeling in order to obtain the more correct result. Therefore, it is required to update the initial finite element model.According to the study result to the finite element updating technology theory and applied research that based on static test data, this thesis will use the MATLAB software to program to compute and analyse the following two items:1. This thesis shows a circular cross-section cantilever beam, and adopts a I-section beam to simulate the circular cross-section beam. Same static characteristics are anticipated under the same boundary conditions. Updating the size of the I-section beam by numerical simulation, it verifies that the updating method proposed by this thesis is feasible.2. Through the static load test to the Neixiang Tuanhe Bridge, using the plateform of MATLAB and MIDAS software, and adopting the optimization principle to obtain the updated finite element model after updating the initial finite element model of the bridge structures that based on the static test data. The result shows that the static characteristics of the updated finite element model could match well with the static characteristics of test and it can reflect the current static characteristics of the bridge.
