As one kind of significant component of vehicle suspension system, helical spring has important position in the automobile manufacture and application. In recent years, the design theory and mamufecturing technology of helical spring have been made great progress home and abroad. With the development of science and technology, new types of spring are produced continuously. Aimed at the industry current situation and the technology level of our country, cooperation with a spring company inChengdu, parameter modelling, geometric parameter design and optimization of a mobile suspension helical spring are studied in this thesis, and the researches on spring stiffness and stress by means of finite element analysis are also carried out, in order to obtain reasonable design method and improve CAE research level of the spiral spring.Firstly, the basical characteristic parameters of engineering spring are introduced; Secondly, a parameter modeling of helical spring in ANSYS is carried out; Thirdly, the phenomena of maximal stress shifting with the helical angle of helical spring has been explained and a concept of critical helical angle is given, the stress distributing and the position easy to be broken of spiral spring can, therefore, be found out. At last, the optimization theory, the basical theory of multiple objective programming and fundamental theory of genetic algorithm are also introduced. Whereas the developing trend on light quantity spring, optimization mathematic model of the helical spring is structured and the computer simulations are carried out by means of genetic algorithm.
