With the growing of energy demand and the stringent emission regulations,so natural gas has charateristics of rich reserves, less expense and low exhaust pollution, it has gradually become a new type of alternative fuel for vehicle. Many countries consider natural gas vehicle as an important measure to ease oil shortages and the reduction of urban air pollution. Our country has a large natuarl gas storage, and NGV is in a stage of development. At present, except the small proportion of the pure natural gas engines, CNG vehicle powered device is basically flexible-fuel engine that can use natural gas or gasoline dividedly. Flexible fuel engine 'structure of the complexity and technical difficulty are higher than pure gasoline engine. CNG vehicle promote to use and develop very rapidly. Durning promoting the process of CNG vehicles, the majority user's and maintenance worker's CNG vehicle are unfamiliar with the principles of CNG vehicles, structural features, in the event of failure, not only affects the performance of the engine, but also is difficult to diagnosis fault. Thus the reaserch of CNG / gasoline flexible-fuel engine mechanism of failure is a very necessary and urgent task..This paper explains in detail structure ,principle, signal's characteristic, common troubles of the sensors using on CNG/gasolin engine, based on the classfily and working principle of the CNG/gasline engine. And compeletes converting Mitsubishi 4G15S Engine into gasoline/CNG flexible fuel engine. Based on engine test bench, we design and build a multi-fault simulation engine working condition test bench, some failure of sensors , such as Inlet air pressure sensor, gas injection pressure sensor, oxygen sensor and so on, are simulated and the phenomena of failure are recorded.. It is the most important that we can quantitatively analyze the influence of the failure to the engine power, fuel economy and emissions by these experiments.
