This paper has completed the design and development of the experimental rig of failure simulation for electronic controlled engine, based on the engine of VOLVO B230F. It expounds the component, basic principle and character of the experimental rig. It also introduces the character and the design methods of the failure circuits and the showing board. The experimental rig is altered from the circuits of automobile engine computer system and another control device is set for simulating failure .The experimental rig can continuously produce various kinds of failure of the sensors, actuators, electronic controlled unit and circuits. Abundant inspect content and convenient inspect port is provided for users. On this rig, some failures of sensors and actuators, such as: Air Flow Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, Speed Sensor and so on, are simulated and the phenomena of failure are recorded. It is the most important that we can quantitatively analyze the influence of the failure to the engine through these experiments.
