Since the reform and opening up our economic grows rapidly. But with the growth of the population and unrational utilization of water resource horrible pollution happens frequently. Giving prominence to the existed supply and demand contradicton has already hindered the city development seriously. To resolve this problem local government and country input abundant manpower and physical resources in succession, carry long distance diversion projects construction such as South-to-North water diversion ,Transport Water from Yellow River to Inner Mongolia and Tsinghai and Shanxi in recent years ,but things followed are pipe burst accidents. As a result of tremendous loss engineers and technicians focus on explosion prevention technique . In the long distance water transmission project water hammer prevent become the most prominent problem .The paper based on the domestic broad-scale water transmission projects (Caofeidian water transportation project in Tang shan and 60 thousands methanol project of Yanzhou coal industry in Shandong Province) in recent years, elaborate the method of characteristics which is used in hydraulic transient's analysis briefly, combine the method of characteristics and the structure and function characteristics of water hammer protecting device, raise the importance of understanding the water hammer protecting device characteristics to designers in engineering actual computation. using the C language compile visible procedures and doing simulative calculation in computer can provide reference for long distance waterline hydraulic transient's analysisFinally this text take the Cao fei dian water transportation project in Tang shan and 60 thousands methanol project of Yan zhou coal industry in Shandong Province for example, doing corresponding water hammer protecting simulative calculation in computer. Using ordinary ball-float exhaust valves and constant-speed buffered valves and comparing performances through their defend effect ,the constant-speed buffered valves prominent. The two stages shut times of buffered check valves in pump outlet influent the water hammer pressure height. It is obvious that over-release pressure valves and box-surge tank perform well. This text compares various kinds of defend programs in actual projects, determine defend program and two-stage close time finally, the study results not only guide these two projects, but has great reference values and utilization values to similar water hammer-defend projects.
