As an important nondestructive testing technology, eddy current testing (ECT) can quickly detect flaws in metal materials. In recent years, the simulation technology of ECT has made great progress. Using this technology, the relationship between metal flaws and impendent signal can be studied clearly; The nature of defects will be more accurately determined and the reliability of test results will be improved. At the same time, with the help of computer, we can possibly determine the parameters of the probe and improve detection capabilities and sensitivity. All of these can help to design the best suitable probe for ECT. The thesis is on the software development of ECT signal simulation and finite element pre-processing technology. The ECT of steam generator tube of the nuclear power plant is involved.Because the tube has an axis-symmetry structure, it can be modeled by a two-dimensional one. In this thesis, the development of the simulation software, ECTSingal, based in Visual C++ 6.0 will be presented .The finite element method is a useful tool for solving the axial symmetry model with small defects. The pre-processing stage is the key work of the development of FEM software. The basic concepts and the algorithms of the plan grid partition are discussed. Based on the Bowyer-Watson algorithm, the pre-treatment program was developed. Numerical experiments show that the pre-treatment program meets the needs of finite element analysis. The simulation results of the standard artificial flaws of steam generator tube RSEM Z-9070 agree with the experimental results. It has been proved that the finite element method can quickly and accurately calculate axis-symmetric defects problem.
